Amazing Sci-fi of 1978

October 10, 2011 in Nice Things

SPACE PIRATE CAPTAIN HARLOCK

A couple of weeks ago I watched one of the most amazing sci-fi anime series I think that I’ll ever watch. Space Pirate Captain Harlock was so amazing that I’m now going to attempt to write my first anime review for 3 years.

Before I start begin with the review I would just like to say that Harlock is the most manly male anime character created through all time.
You don’t see many characters getting amazing theme songs like this.

STORY

Just, wow. For 42 episodes Harlock follows through the same plot and it keeps on advancing. Everything that happens in this series has some kind of meaning to it. Nothing is pointless fillers just because they have extra time before something exciting happens. Everything is exciting!
From beginning to end it’s about Harlock’s fight against the Mazone to protect Earth, but he hates Earthmen?!

10/10

ART

Well, it’s 1978. What could you expect? It’s clearly not animations of 2011 but it’s enough to make Harlock more MAN than any other.

5/10

SOUND

This is another of the best aspects of Harlock. The music is incredible. Playing the most suitable pieces for every scene. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the final showoff had one of the best dialogues and BGM that I’ve ever seen. It takes a genius to create this stuff.

8/10

CHARACTER

Every character is unique. From the ridiculous government officials, to Harlock and his companions as well as the Mazone. Harlock just is more man than any of us ever will be.
He’s also the guardian of an adorable girl called Mayu. Mayu is on par with Mineva from Zeta Gundam when it comes to HNGGG from early anime. And Mayu is just about 10 years earlier!
I could never forget the amazing moment of Daiba who realized where to find his true self.  Kei is very much an いい女 as well.
Another thing that makes this series very impressive is how the character development works. There’s no stupid stuff you see in anime of today, the development occurs as all the events go by. There are no boring every day moments of doing things. Just blood and tears!

9/10

ENJOYMENT

I feel that I pretty much already mentioned that you can only experience maximum enjoyment with Harlock.

10/10

OVERALL

WATCH IT.

10/10

That concludes it. Credits to MAL for the review template.

DETOLFの力

September 25, 2011 in Nice Things, Short Thoughts

A quick look at the Detolf I got from Ikea the other day. Yes, feast your eyes on the newly erect glass citadel that guards my innocent figures. If you’re keen you may have even spotted a new addition to the shrine-crew, but who might she be you ask? Why, Mishiro Akatsuki of the GSC Shuraki Trinity series of course! I’ll have to give her her very own post on a later date but I will say that she complements Saber Alter fabulously.

Tune in to Shrine-Channel

September 20, 2011 in Short Thoughts

Just a heads up about a new section of the blog I’m opening up, the Shrine-Channel. Possibly misleading name but no this isn’t a stream or anything with original content at all whatsoever, but a separate blog archiving of short posts for me to make in the likely event that I run into a video or a picture or even stories I find interesting. And hopefully you’ll find them interesting too otherwise I wouldn’t bother posting them. Anyway there’ll be no cue as to when it’s updated so you’ll just have to check back there every once in a while if you want the latest heads up of silly animations or homogenious moments uploaded to the internet.

My Top 30 Female Seiyuu Tier List and More!

September 16, 2011 in Otaku

Top 10

S++: Maaya Sakamoto

S+: Miyuki Sawashiro, Chiwa Saito, Sakura Tange, Yui Horie

S: Itou Shizuka, Asami Imai, Rina Satou

A+: Yuu Asakawa, Yuu Kobayashi

11 ~ 30

A: Eri Kitamura, Ayako Kawasumi, Kaori Mizuhashi, Noto Mamiko, Kana Ueda, Ryouka Yuzuki, Mai Kadowaki

B+: Nana Mizuki, Megumi Hayashibara, Fumiko Orikasa, Yui Makino, Rie Tanaka, Chihara Minori

B: Mai Nakahara, Yukari Tamura, Yuuko Gouto, Ami Koshimizu, Ai Nonaka, Marina Inoue

Bam! And there you have it. I know I’ll receive a ton of flack from everyone since their favorite seiyuu isn’t on S++++++ tier but for myself this rounds to about how I feel. But let’s be real there are a ton of talented seiyuu out there and there’s no possible way to rank all of them in any accurate form since everyone has different tastes in different characters and seiyuu appeal. It’s all a part of the fun of being the fanatic stalker you know you are and your list may look different from my list but without a doubt we have to give a big shoutout to all the seiyuu out there for doing such a wonderful job as both the voices to our beloved moe moe anime characters and at the same time representing the otaku culture as our idols. My first shoutouts (in no particular order) are to these seiyuu who couldn’t make the top 30 but who voice at least 1 character I really like (or I just think they’re cute ww). Yes even Aya McSlutmuffin Hirano. No I’m not here to rip on her today, I’ll just say thank God she’s cute so she can at least get a job in AV or gravure fufufufu. Though those antics were probably what got her in this mess in the first place. ( `ヮ´) GOD BLESS
