Amazing Sci-fi of 1978

October 10, 2011 in Nice Things

SPACE PIRATE CAPTAIN HARLOCK

A couple of weeks ago I watched one of the most amazing sci-fi anime series I think that I’ll ever watch. Space Pirate Captain Harlock was so amazing that I’m now going to attempt to write my first anime review for 3 years.

Before I start begin with the review I would just like to say that Harlock is the most manly male anime character created through all time.
You don’t see many characters getting amazing theme songs like this.

STORY

Just, wow. For 42 episodes Harlock follows through the same plot and it keeps on advancing. Everything that happens in this series has some kind of meaning to it. Nothing is pointless fillers just because they have extra time before something exciting happens. Everything is exciting!
From beginning to end it’s about Harlock’s fight against the Mazone to protect Earth, but he hates Earthmen?!

10/10

ART

Well, it’s 1978. What could you expect? It’s clearly not animations of 2011 but it’s enough to make Harlock more MAN than any other.

5/10

SOUND

This is another of the best aspects of Harlock. The music is incredible. Playing the most suitable pieces for every scene. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the final showoff had one of the best dialogues and BGM that I’ve ever seen. It takes a genius to create this stuff.

8/10

CHARACTER

Every character is unique. From the ridiculous government officials, to Harlock and his companions as well as the Mazone. Harlock just is more man than any of us ever will be.
He’s also the guardian of an adorable girl called Mayu. Mayu is on par with Mineva from Zeta Gundam when it comes to HNGGG from early anime. And Mayu is just about 10 years earlier!
I could never forget the amazing moment of Daiba who realized where to find his true self.  Kei is very much an いい女 as well.
Another thing that makes this series very impressive is how the character development works. There’s no stupid stuff you see in anime of today, the development occurs as all the events go by. There are no boring every day moments of doing things. Just blood and tears!

9/10

ENJOYMENT

I feel that I pretty much already mentioned that you can only experience maximum enjoyment with Harlock.

10/10

OVERALL

WATCH IT.

10/10

That concludes it. Credits to MAL for the review template.

Sobzobの部屋

July 13, 2011 in Nice Things, Otaku

Today I went by Ikea and picked up my second detolf.
Unfortunately, they only had the light colored one in stock and my previous one was black. I decided to pick it up either way as it will probably be quite a while until I can go to Ikea the next time.

And since I freshened up my apartment with a new detolf I figured I’d take new pictures of my room. So here it is!

Geara Zulu

April 13, 2011 in Nice Things, Otaku

And so I finally finished building the Geara Zulu gunpla. I’ve been taking it rather easy, building a part here and there.
Mind you it’s been over a year since I built my last gunpla and there are loads of visible cuts on it so be sure not to enlarge any of the images.
Some of the images are blurry too, I suppose that’s the magic of a terrible photographer, I apologize for this.

Here the project started, with only a few parts built.

Main body done, Zulong?!

Here the legs are complete as well and it’s standing for the first time confounded that it survived a clash with RX-0.

Here it is completed, he looks pretty strong on this image!

But in the end I choose this pose, I like it more when they’re in “action”. Though I didn’t get a base for it so the poses are quite limited.

All of my gunplas standing together. I like the NU-HWS Last Shooting pose.

That’s all for this time. I’m quite tempted to do a review of my Taimanin Asagi figure that’s standing beside my monitor, so that might be coming up.

Weiss Schwarz and expensive nendoroids

April 5, 2011 in Nice Things, Otaku

Yesterday and today I received some packagesヽ( >∀<)ノ

Starting off with what I received yesterday:

Weiss Schwarz starters(MELTY BLOOD and Nanoha A’s), a storage box, sleeves and the Geara Zulu Guard-Type gunpla!

The Nanoha StrikerS box was simple to put together and I really like how it looks. An excellent way to store the cards!

The cards from the MELTY BLOOD starter box set, it’s filled with Arcueid and Sion. Also the adorable White Ren, how lucky aren’t you to get 4 in the starter?

The Nanoha A’s set has some nice Fate and Signum too, but what’s with the terrible Hayate illustration? orz

My two decks together, all sleeved with the Sumika sleeves. I’m gonna start playing with the decks separately and then combine them when I’m more comfortable with the game.

Here’s an old WS card I received together with Fate/unlimited codes Portable extended edition.

And those are all the things I received yesterday, moving on to the amazing things I got today(。◕‿‿◕。)

The Hibiki and Chikagi petit nendoroid set as well as two Azaka and a Sonico card!

Contents of the box. The 2011 calendar doesn’t come with the nendoroid set originally, but my friend who picked the set up for me got the calendar as well. Thank you very much!

Inside the nendoroid box lies a beautiful booklet hidden!

And so here are the lovely nendoroids together with keitai-san!

That’s what I got for this time. I might eventually make a blog post on the Kara no Kyoukai BD box, but it’s so long since it was released and I’m guessing everyone has already seen it…
I’ve pre-ordered the Garei ZERO DVD/BD combo box and the Evangelion 1.11, 2.22 BDs. The Garei ZERO box is released on april 12, I’ll probably have them in about 3 weeks.

Still waiting for Demonbane to be released orz
