Catherine PV Very Saucy Indeed

August 19, 2010 in Shpiel

Recently announced Persona spin-off adult horror game, “Catherine,” from Atlus has just released its PV, and it’s quite tasteful indeed.

One can somewhat guess what the story going on is; man finds himself thrown into a cryptic world full of lamb people after making hot pizza love to a young and cute, mysterious woman.

For me to even be bring up a videogame that isn’t a fighting game or an eroge is quite astonishing. This is the first videogame in ages that I’ve actually looked forward to. Catherine is confirmed to not sport an RPG style of play like the Persona series. Seeing as how I’ve yet to beat the Persona 3 that I purchased three years ago, I don’t believe this will post a problem.

What I love about this game so far are the dark and adult elements combined with a funny, adult sense of humor tagging along behind. Man makes love to pizza jizz girl and falls into the world of lamb people… in his underwear. Perhaps it’s really the appeal towards an adult audience in contrast to the several upon several games that gear towards angsty Japanese teenagers that caught my eye. Regardless, Catherine is shaping up to be a very pretty piece of work that will hopefully and miraculously see a Western localization.

Jizz pizza in question.

F/DR will continue

August 16, 2010 in Shpiel

Unsuccessful and unheard of fan novel of mine, “Fate/dream raver,” has been dug up from its grave. For the past 5 months I’ve undergone the process of reanalyzing and restoring the project. I’ve broken down the concepts and have rebuilt the story from the ground up. To this date I’ve gone through two scenario drafts and am in the middle of the third revision. I’m shooting for a winter release for the initial volume.

Fate/dream raver

Fate/dream raver was originally a novel series written on the internet that I began nearly two years ago. The project as a whole was poorly constructed and weakly held together using elements of Fate/stay night. Inevitably, it was dropped perhaps a quarter of the way through.

Project Re:write

Project Re:write is a tentative title for the upcoming rebuild of Fate/dream raver. The difference between “then and now” is perhaps that I’m actually putting some thought into the project now, whereas previously the story took off in the direction of the first thing that came to my mind. Already I’ve gone through two drafts for Project Re:write and am undergoing more careful revisions.

Will this ever finish?

Short answer: I hope so.

Slightly less short answer: Out of all the (unfinished) projects I’ve started, this is the one I’ve felt the most passion towards. It wasn’t until I began reanalyzing F/DR that I had realized how much freedom and versatility was available in using the “Holy Grail War” as a medium and as the foundation for a fan novel series (yeah trying to avoid the word fan fiction as much as possible). As such my attitude is geared towards finishing this until the very end, 101%.

Basic Plot Summary

The first month and winter of the new year, 2014. The story once again follows “MM,” who is yet again a miserable, unemployed wreck, though this time without the terminal illness. MM, his online handle, one day finds himself reluctantly thrown out of his daily routine (consisting of sleeping, smoking, eating, and sleeping) and into a secret, impossible-to-believe “Holy Grail War” involving familiar internet personas he once knew in the past. Those denizens of the net have become the seven “Masters” of the War, each summoning their very own “Servant” in order to fight to obtain the omnipotent Holy Grail. But what no one could predict was an eighth Servant unintentionally being summoned by an incompetent and seemingly useless Master; that Master is… you guessed right, MM.

wwww in any case, the basic story structure is as old. In the future in a small city in California, a new Holy Grail War takes place and characters based off this MM fellow and other real internet people are the Masters. Beyond that most elements have been changed to serve a more desirable taste, from personalities to events to characters entirely. Some Masters have been swapped, some Servants have been swapped, but I’m not leaving anyone (especially for those who used to keep up with F/DR) out. And lastly, one new plot device to take a peak at~

Q.F.F. (Questions Founding Forum)

Q.F.F. is a mysterious online social board exclusively behind the Holy Grail War. Only Masters are given access to the board where they may interact semi-anonymously. The board provides Masters information and updates presented by the mediator of the War himself. Even more, users may post interesting information or wage deals on the online bulletin or even personally to another Master.

Fall Expectations

August 15, 2010 in Shpiel

If you have yet to take a peek at the fall line up for upcoming anime, well here it is. In addition to that you should probably have noticed a few changes to the site layout, however! That’s only phase 1 in the upcoming shrine-write metamorphosis! I’ll be getting a customized domain name soon so you can stop seeing a vempire in the URL.

MM!

I don’t think I even have a say in this. A series about a true masochistic cross dresser that’s named MM! I’d have watched this even if it wasn’t named MM!

My Little Sister Can’t Be This Cute

They say the only kind of guys who are into the imouto fetish are the ones without a real sister. And that’s exactly what I am. ( ´・ω・`) Ore no Imoto ga Konnani Kawaii Wakeganai, or Oreimo for short, is yet another comedy series with an otaku twist but despite the fact that we’ve all come and gone through this genre multiple times, if the statement ‘my little sister can’t be this cute’ is indeed false then of course it shall be completely worth looking into.

The World Only God Knows

TWOGK is a very funny comedy manga series that’s been running since 2008 and at one point I was caught up with it. Though it’s been over a year since I last read any, from what I remember at the time I was dying for it to be made into an anime series and alas, it is. The style of humor is very open and just about anyone can probably find themselves laughing and enjoying this anime if it lives up to the manga.

Deadman Wonderland

And here we have from the same mangaka as Eureka 7, Deadman Wonderland. And that’s about all I know about the show. Having not seen Eureka 7 either I don’t know what to expect. I can say I have read a couple chapters of the manga and it was interesting enough for me to put this here so why not.

Mirai Nikki

And finally, the anime of one of the most popular running manga series of all time… has been delayed… until December. Actually from what I heard it was only going to be a pilot OVA in the first place, but perhaps this delay alludes to a possible full series in the works. Some argue it shouldn’t get one since filthy anime producers could never capture the genius that is Mirai Nikki in animation form. The idea is however very desirable to lazyarous like me, who find it too troublesome to stay updated with manga scanlations.
